Media Libraries Application

The Media Libraries application is the area in Kentico where all digital assets used for the website, such as images, are stored. This section explains how to access, manage and organize the Media Libraries.

Media Libraries Overview

The Media Libraries application contains all the Media Libraries for your website, listed in a grid.

  • The Website Media Library is where all digital assets are contained.

The content within each Media Library is organized by folders. Try to keep the folder structure within a Media Library as similar to the site structure/CMS page tree as possible. This is best practice, and will help you locate assets faster when following the same structure throughout the CMS.

  • Example: if you are adding images for the "About Us" page, add the images to the "About Us" folder in the Website Media Library.

PRO TIPS:

  • Avoid storing more than 50 images in one folder to prevent performance issues. If you need more than 50 images for a page, it is better to create additional subfolders for optimization and organization purposes.
  • You can create as many folders as you'd like to organize and store all the digital assets used for the website.
  • When a media asset is selected you can use the Usage tab to see where the file is utilized on the site.
