Thousands of dairy producers had the opportunity to hear about dairy checkoff programs through 36 interviews conducted at the 2007 National Association of Farm Broadcasting (NAFB) Trade Talk. During the meeting, held Nov. 15, in Kansas City, Mo., dairy checkoff representatives spoke with farm broadcasters about ways the checkoff is creating lifelong dairy consumers and building powerful partnerships.
Booth spokespersons included Paula Meabon, Pennsylvania dairy producer and National Dairy Promotion and Research Board (NDB) member; and Stephanie Cundith, a registered dietitian with the Midwest Dairy Association.

Pennsylvania dairy producer and NDB board member Paula Meabon spoke with farm broadcasters about a checkoff-funded “dairy aisle reinvention program.” By creating a new shopping experience for consumers, this project aims to increase traffic to the dairy case, the purchase rate for dairy foods and the overall number of dairy items in the shopping cart.

At Trade Talk, board members and staff spoke with farm broadcasters about ways the checkoff is helping create lifelong dairy consumers by offering flavored milk in plastic resealable bottles in schools, at foodservice and through other venues. More than 9,200 school and more than 20,000 restaurants nationwide now offer milk the way consumers want it.

Registered dietitian Stephanie Cundith spoke with farm broadcasters about ways the checkoff is leading efforts to further advance dairy’s health and nutrition benefits and increase awareness of the need to consume 3 servings of dairy a day among the public health community and the general public.
